"I see possibilities and love to help others see them in themselves and what they do." -- Brooke
Brooke Benschoter, APR, MS is Big Picture Lover for The Consultancy, a business coaching and consulting company and the Moxie Executive for the Moxie Exchange Movement for Iowa and Nebraska. Today Brooke is focused on exposing emerging leaders the power of collaboration and learning from other women who are traveling or have traveled “the road.” She also believes that males do not read minds and focuses on delivering programming that is inspiring and enlightening for all attendees.
Brooke says her years of experience in corporate communications and integrated marketing have been crucial in developing her own leadership and facilitation approach to helping others. She has overseen branding, advertising and public relations with organizations such as Pioneer Hi-Bred, Meredith Corporation, ITAGroup, National Pork Board and Drake University. Her career started in broadcast journalism as a reporter, producer, and anchor and grew to include marketing agency management and consulting experience.
Brooke calls herself a “branding geek,” having worked with many national brands that include Kraft, Home Depot, Compaq Computer, Better Homes and Gardens, Tone’s, Frito Lay, USS Iowa, and Mary Engelbreit. But she has also seen how some of those same brands suffered at the hands of poor leadership and a lack of female leadership. Since 2009, she has focused on personal branding as part of the toolbox for leaders – both men and women -- and those who follow them.
She directed the 2014 and 2015 SmartTalk Connected Conversations speaker series. She conceived and produced 26 episodes of a healthy lifestyle program, Fork in the Road with Sheree Clark. Additionally, she has developed and hosted many development events focused on branding, diversity and inclusion and professional growth – for both organizations and their employees. Her role as a certified Moxie Exchange facilitator has allowed her to facilitate peer mentoring and advisory platform for companies who want to develop, promote and retain their female talent.
An Omaha native, Brooke graduated from Creighton University and received her M.S. in Leadership Development, Organizational Development and Adult Learning from Drake University. She is a graduate of the Greater Des Moines Leadership Institute and loves all things Des Moines. A 28-year volunteer and chairperson for Festival of Trees and Lights benefiting Blank Children’s Hospital, she also served on the Board of Directors of Beacon of Life Transitional Housing for Women for six years. She currently volunteers for the Young Women's Resource Center in downtown Des Moines.
A working mother who raised three children, she now enjoys being grandmother to Addie. She is an avid photographer and storyteller. She is currently working to add food and travel to her hobby list.
